EARS to BRIMS: AUDIOLOGIST to HATTER (/ˈhætɚ/ )

THE ART

Demarcus Fitzgerald Bush, the son of an avid sewer, grew up in the 80’s era of Hip-Hop and was first introduced to fashion in Columbia, SC (founded in 1786).  Some would say he was a renaissance child focusing his energies on the arts as a: poet, singer, musician, actor, photographer, and designer. As a young boy, he was influenced by eclectic designers from the US, Europe, and Asia, while listening to the rhymes of RUN-DMC and LL Cool J.

THE SCIENCE

As a high school student, Dr. Bush participated in the medical explorer’s club which led to his passion to improve the quality of life of others.  Because of his thirst for learning in the sciences and perseverance, he earned degrees from Winthrop University (Bachelor’s), Howard University (Master’s) the University of Louisville (Doctorate in Audiology), and South Carolina State University (MBA).  Today as a national board- certified audiologist, Dr. Demarcus Bush has the privilege of living out his dream of helping others through healthcare!

THE ART + SCIENCE

Fitz & Gerald merges art of a craft and science to make fine hat.  Trained and mentored by master hatters across the United States, those early visions of designing re-emerged.  Handmade, the 1786 Collection represents the essence of the original and historic African American communities of Columbia, SC.
